Handmade by Acoma artist Claudia Mitchell, this shallow bowl is a beautiful representation of the traditional designs of Acoma. Claudia is the grandaughter of the famed Acoma potter Lucy M. Lewis, and daughter of the late Emma Lewis. Lucy Lewis was the driving force behind the revival of pottery-making as an art in Acoma Pueblo. The Lewis family keeps the same patterns, and does not move to a contemporary style because it is very important to them to keep the true traditions and designs of the ancient Mimbres people alive.
Constructed by hand using all natural materials, the vessel features modern interpretations of traditional designs and symbols. With its traditional designs and historical connection, this one-of-a-kind bowl will be a significant and inspiring addition to your fine art collection.
Bowl measures 6" long and wide, stands1-3/4" tall. Comes with a certificate of authenticity.
