Carl Estate Olla Maiden Fetish Carving

Handcrafted by Zuni Pueblo fetish carver Carl Estate, this Olla Maiden carving is a beautiful and unique piece celebrating the strength and beauty of women within our communities. Carved from ivory-hued antler, the figure is accented with turquoise, lapis, coral gemstones an a mother of pearl carved corn at the center of figures body.

The pottery piece carried upon her head is a symbolic element and historic reference to the women within Pueblo communities who carried water back to the community from the river for use in daily life. Elegant and detailed, this carving connects us to an ancient art, reminds us of the importance of the natural world, and reminds us that it takes all people to build a community.
