Clifford Cheama Zia Sun Symbol Post Earrings
Clifford Cheama Zia Sun Symbol Post Earrings
Handcrafted by Zuni Pueblo artist Clifford Cheama, these colorful button earrings celebrate a storied history of jewelry-making within the Zuni Pueblo. The beautifully crafted post earrings feature sterling silver, gemstones of blue turquoise, red coral, black jet, and white mother of pearl to create a Sunface in the middle of sun symbol.
Created through the traditional Zuni jewelry technique of channel inlay, the design features a sun face symbol, sacred Sun Father in Zuni culture, in a smooth sterling silver setting. The four is a sacred number in Zia Culture. Four rays extending from four directions represent the four cardinal directions, the four seasons of the year, the four stages of life, and the four sacred obligations one must develop: a strong body, a clear mind, a pure spirit, and a devotion to the welfare of others. A meaningful symbol great as a gift or addition to your Native American jewelry collection.
Post earring measure 1" long and 7/8" wide, with surgical steel post. Comes with certificate of authenticity.
